夏まつり /natsu matsuri/, translated as Summer Festival, is a big tradition in Japan during summer when the celebration season is at peak and festivals are happening everywhere across the country.

Dream Pen Zogan Momiji features the image of Momiji leaves by inlaying mother of pearl onto the ebonite pen body that is already coated with many layers of natural Urushi.
The attractiveness of a Zogan art is how its color changes depending on the angle of light.
And to create such a piece of art, not only skills and art sense but great attention to detail is also required. First, the pearls are cut into the desired motif. Then the craftsman will carve the surface of the pen body in the exactly same size as the motif. And the carved surface will be inlaid with many layers of cut pearls to finish the art.

in Tsugaru, Japan
The fountain pen is handcrafted in Tsugaru, Aomori prefecture, using Tsugaru's famous Urushi technique - 唐塗り /kara-nuri/, which illustrates distinctive speckled patterns created by four to six different Urushi color lacquers.
While the Shiro-age edition is made with rare Shiro (white) Urushi, Raden Midori-age is created with Raden art on the base of Midori (green) Kara-nuri.
The fountain pen is handcrafted in Tsugaru,
