Description
What is Anzu?
Just like the Kara-nuri technique, the Anzu color - both literally and figuratively - has many layers to it. Translated literally, it means apricot, and its color should have a slightly faded orange color, but when applying this name to a pen, it was our desire to showcase how the color of an apricot can transform before our very eyes. This is why the primary color of the pen has an almost cream color or beige color, but the Kara-nuri pattern across the pen reveals the brighter orange hue that people commonly associate with a perfectly ripe apricot.
Urushi pens are treasured not only for their craftsmanship, but for their ability to evolve with our continued usage. Unlike the apricot, the Anzu's beauty will continue to ripen and become even more unique over time.
The Art of Tsugaru Urushi
Dream Pen Anzu is handcrafted by our Tsugaru Urushi artisans from Aomori, Japan. With Kara-nuri technique, different shades of color are beautifully expressed through the coating and polishing process. This process is repeated over a period of six to eight months and the final result is a complex yet beautiful lacquer fountain pen.
As you continue to use it, the color will evolve, becoming an altogether more unique fountain pen than the day you first received it.
