Oasis Fountain Pen
The journey of life may sometimes feel like we are stranded in a desert, but the Oasis will always await us.
Inspiration
In creating this fountain pen, we imagined ourselves as a wanderer in the desert, lost among shifting dunes, blazing sun, and a mounting sense of hopelessness. In the midst of lifeless sand, we look up and find lush green, fresh water, and tall trees with huge shadows.
Oasis Fountain Pen strives to inspire that sense of hope and relief that desert wanderers experience when they see an oasis.
The pen's bright blue color is inspired by the pool of water that can be found at the heart of any oasis, and the subtle smattering of glitter across its body represents how the water may appear when the sunlight shines across it from certain angles.
The orange-pink color of the body is inspired by the color of the sands found in certain parts of the Arabian Desert. Finally, the gold trim and clip, and the solid gold 18K Nib represent both the golden sun and yellow sands of the Sahara Desert.
Each part of this pen represents a different aspect of the desert, but when combined, it represents the true beating heart of the desert - the Oasis.
The Desert's Wellspring
The desert is known to be a beautiful, yet unforgiving place. With its extreme heat during the day and surprisingly chilly nights, the desert is a place of extremes with little to no room for complacency. Despite this, there is a naturally occurring phenomenon in deserts across the globe where water is readily available, flora and fauna are thriving, and even the air itself seems to be more hospitable to any dwellers.
These phenomena are called the oasis.
When Founder and CEO Taizo Okagaki was researching agricultural development in the harsh, arid climate of Egypt's desert, he discovered that fountain pens were able to withstand the temperatures that simple ballpoint pens could not handle. This allowed him to jot down notes and write reports without anxiety. Although his own research could be interpreted as an attempt at creating a man-made oasis in a desert, the true oasis was, in fact, his trusty fountain pen. Decades later, the importance of his fountain pen has remained with him, becoming not only one of the main inspirations for the Wancher brand, but the brand new Oasis Fountain Pen.
