Freedom.

Whether it's freedom from our own anxieties, responsibilities, or difficulties with the people in our life, we yearn for freedom like it's the air we breathe. While we cannot offer freedom from everything, we have done our best in at least one regard: freedom of expression. With the Mofu Pen, we wanted to create a fountain pen that can become a literal extension of our emotions.

The Mofu Pen represents our earnest desire to help you express how you truly feel, freeing you from the troubles that wage a war within.

Origin of MOFU

The Japanese language - like Mandarin - uses specific characters to denote meaning, allowing people to convey an entire world of emotion and story simply by choosing one character over the other. We wanted to honor the poetic beauty of the Japanese language by selecting the name Mofu (文風). The first character Mo (文, also pronounced as Bun) has many meanings, but its primary meaning relates to literature, writing, and analysis. The second character Fu (風, also pronounced as Kaze) relates to wind and style.

We combined these two characters to represent our desire for people to write as freely as the wind itself.

THE BLUEBERRY

The alluring Mofu Pen with a dark blue color complemented by swirls of turqoise across the body and the cap can be likened to a batch of fresh blueberries still dewey after being harvested. Just like the blueberry, each Mofu Blueberry is subtly different from one another. A blueberry may look the same, but the taste can vary between sour and sweet from one berry to the next. Similarly, the Mofu Blueberry's design may look identical to each piece at first glance, but upon closer inspection, the subtle differences in the pattern between each pen becomes clear.

Some people like sweet, while others prefer sour, but that's fine, because the Mofu Blueberry can be as sweet or as sour as its collector wants.

The Mofu Pen was not only designed to be light and comfortable in your hand, but its shape is modeled after our iconic Dream Pen collection's cigar body shape. Although the material is hard resin sourced directly from Germany, and it's slimmer than our True Ebonite pens, the Mofu Pen is meant to be just as eyecatching and functional as possible.

MoFu - an excellence of writing

"MoFu is a wonderful experience. Mostly it is not the price that matters, but the quality, experience and mostly the lineage reflecting through every selected offerings matters the most. And that's what we call Goodwill - something that is earned over the years. Thanks Wancher, expecting such launches in future as well. The pen is light weight and beautiful swirling acrylic, very comfortable in hand for long writing as it blends into the fingers. The nib, although proprietary, projects right amount of ink over paper with an usual feedback in Japanese nibs which I like. In a word - Awesome."

A dream to write with

"A joy. Writes so smoothly, the chatoyance so pretty I get distracted from writing. I got it in summer and paired it with Teranishi Guitar Pink and it was just such a party to write with. It is out of Fall rotation but can't wait to pair it with a cold-colored ink as soon as it gets really cold."

There's something wrong with the nib

"I don't know if it's only my pen or not, the nib is toothy/almost scratchy in upstroke angle and if I press a little bit, it will be separated and needs to be adjust back to normal which is odd because another Wancher pen I purchased doesn't have this issue nor other pen brands those take Jowo nibs have none of this issue either. But the pen barrel is beautiful."

ORAPAN L. (2/5)

Very underrated pen

"Excellent finish. Awesome nib. Should be priced at least 3 times as much."

Wrote beautifully out of the box!

"I judge pens by the experience of writing with them. My Blueberry MOFU arrived very quickly from Japan to Texas, I’ve waited longer for pens within the US!! The color of the acrylic is a lovely blue, but the pen is 5” long and 1/2” diameter, smaller than I’m accustomed to. The nib is nicely tuned, wet, and smooth. Nice pen, great experience!"

Linda R. (4/5)

Amazing quality

"The pen arrived as expected, quality was spot on, highly recommended."

Adrian G. (5/5)

Small but Beautiful Pen

"The pen arrived quickly. I ordered it after seeing a review on YouTube. It is my first Wancher pen. . The resin is beautiful with a deep chatoyance to it, providing a deep, penetrating color and experience. When posted, the pen is a nice size. The added bonus is that the pen can be eyedropper filled. Thank you for a wonderful pen."

Paul H. (5/5)

Slightly disappointed

"I’m finding the pen extraordinarily scratchy to write with at this point. I will need to try a brass sheet to carefully work with the nib to make it work better for me. The way the pen looks and feels is very nice."

Tracey D. (3/5)

"Ordered the wrong size nib, but it's beautiful! Reordered"
