The spiral beauty of the Japanese traditional techniques
The inspiration of JINPU Dream Ballpoint Pen
The story of JINPU - Dream Ballpoint pen dates back to when Mr. Okagaki was only a child. From his first encounter with the Jinpu-kaku (仁風閣) in Tottori Castle, Japan, he was fascinated by the irresistible shape of the spiral staircases - a distinctive trait of French Renaissance architecture. The more he explore the world, the more he got attracted to the philosophy behind this shape and how it appears as an important part in the almost every aspect of life, such as the double helix structure of human DNA. Driven by this immense inspiration, JINPU ballpoint pen has come to this world. Not only is it a reminiscence of Mr. Okagaki's childhood memory of the Jinpu-kaku staircase, but it is also the result of the years of hardworking to combine Japanese traditional techniques on to a modern writing instrument.
Making Process
JINPU Ballpoint pen is created with carefully-selected material and the combination of both traditional and modern techniques.

JINPU - Tamamushi: A combination of modern and traditional art
The pen's unique shape is further enhanced by Urushi (Japanese lacquer) with almost two thousand years of history from Echizen, as well as the Art of Tamamushi-nuri, which has been perfected since its inception during the Showa Period. By combining these two different, yet complementary, traditional arts, the artisan was able to achieve a deep, lustrous color that is sure to capture the eye even from across the room.
While many of us may already be aware of the significance of Urushi in Japanese traditional arts, Tamamushi-nuri is a lesser known art even within Japanese culture. The deep reddish-brown or mahogany color of most Tamamushi coated items comes from the fact that it is made from the delicate wings of hundreds, if not thousands, of Tamamushi beetles. After the wings have been ground into a fine powder, the artisan will mix it with transparent Urushi until it has the consistency of Urushi while retaining the unique pigment of a Tamamushi beetle wing.
Mechanism
Dream Ballpoint Pen JINPU comes with a smooth twisting mechanism that aligns with its distinctive spiral shape. As you retracting and contracting the pen tip, you can observe the special charm of spiral shape. This characteristic becomes even more special with the Tamamushi finish, as the wine red lacquer finish will shimmer and sparkle like a littering curve whenever you use.
SK-8 from MITSUBISHI PENCIL CO, LTD., a Japanese leading stationery maker, is adopted for the refill. It will ensure you a smooth writing experience with juicy flow that dries quickly. The pen is also available with International Cross Ballpoint pen refills.
