A perfectly imperfect dream (pen)
"Some time ago and after an unexpectedly long wait (Wancher is not blamed for it at all, but the Spanish Postal Service), I received my Kyoto Celluloid Momiji pen! I unboxed it, inked it and started to enjoy it as I was tasting a deep and voluptuous red wine. And yet, I was not able to write a review. . . I was hesitating, mainly doubting about the final score. . . Let me explain my hesitation. The cellulose acetate body is just gorgeous, the cigar shape is timeless and simply beautiful, as well as the engraved silver ring separating cap and body. But probably because Japanese craftsmen have left us too accustomed to such high standards, the slight imperfections at the ends of the pen's finials are perhaps more noticeable than they deserve. The titanium parts also don't screw together smoothly. However, my main concern is the Keiryu nib, which is excellent but not for me. Since it is, roughly speaking, like a stub nib but rotated 90 degrees (fine vertical strokes, thick horizontal strokes), it is not suitable for my personal handwriting. I preferably write with an F nib and the Keiryu works more like a B (or even BB with the Iroshizuku ink I have the pen inked now). It is also a bit scratchy and delivers a lot of ink (nice) but this means not every paper is suitable for this nib. But I cannot blame the pen for this; it is just a matter of the nib I selected. Thus, I decided to give the five stars, which certainly this beautiful pen deserves."
