"Dream pens are all excellent, well-balanced writers. Their minimal design, sleek and elongated, is perfect. What distinguishes each is the finish. Here, Master Hirota Yoko has produced a truly unique and beautiful pen. The underlying gold foil shines through the clear and red-tinted urushi, changing its brilliant intensity with the light. Creases in the foil capture more of the lacquer to create irregular patterns. The texture is not smooth but it isn't nashiji-like either. Both visually and to the touch the pen is a complex mixture of warm urushi and cool metal. This is truly spectacular work, well-worth its price!! (Btw, mine has a red ebony feed and a gold-plated F nib; I would have gone for the solid gold nib if it had been available with the red feed, but these pens are unique so waiting is missing out and given how well the steel nibs write, the red feed easily trumped the solid gold nib.)"
